I have found that most gamblers are extremely superstitious and their superstitions range from funny to strange to absolutely weird.

Some of the superstitions relate to items that you wear or items that you carry.  Some gamblers have a lucky shirt, a pendant, sunglasses or even the colour of a clothing item which could be considered to be lucky.  Other gamblers carry lucky tokens such as a rabbits foot, a lucky coin, a lucky chip from a casino or even a lucky stone such as a tigers eye.  Lady gamblers also consider certain shoes or a handbag to be a lucky token.

Other gambling superstitions include sitting at the first or last box whilst playing blackjack, cutting the cards “thin to win” and even kissing the cutting card before cutting the deck of cards.  Having a lucky croupier is also a big plus and should the casino change the croupiers too frequently means it is time to leave the table as the casino is trying to break a lucky run at the table. Blowing the dice before throwing them at craps is also considered lucky as is the way you stack your chips.

It is considered very bad luck to count your chips or your money while playing at the tables as it is considered bad luck for someone to stand and watch over your shoulder (a Spook) or touch you whilst you are playing at a table, this is referred to as “putting the eyes in” or deliberately bringing you bad luck.

Some of the funnier things people do is to tap a coin on a slot machine three times, or turning round three times in front of a slot machine before putting the coin in, feeling to see if a slot machine is warm before sitting down to play, rubbing a buddha’s tummy for luck and in Bingo having a lucky card number or series of numbers such as adding up to seven or a lot of twos or nines.

The strangest are the gamblers that consult the Tarot Cards to find out which is the luckiest day to play or even the luckiest venue.  Some psychics are considered so lucky that the player is said to win the exact amount predicted?

Whatever your superstition is, you will firmly believe that this is the reason that you have won, and, if you are winning then there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
